CHAFFEE -- Eloise E. Smith, 83, of Chaffee died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at All Saints Special Care Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born Nov. 29, 1916, at Bonne Terre, daughter of John T. and Essie E. Frazier Ward. She and Carl C. Smith were married Oct. 11, 1937, in Corning, Ark. He died Feb. 12, 1999.
Smith had been a representative with Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women, Chaffee PEO Chapter CX, and Ladies Auxiliary to American Legion Post 389.
Survivors include a son, Van Smith of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Genetta Strong of Alabaster, Ala.; three grandsons, James P. Smith, John P. Smith, and Jeffrey P. Smith, all of Jackson; two stepgranddaughters, Kristin Denny of Springfield, Jessica Ford of Jackson; two great-grandchildren, Madalyn Smith of Jackson and Taylor Denny of Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee after 4 p.m. today. A PEO service will be held at 8 p.m.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Richard Combs will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Watis Harrell. Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery.
