SCOTT CITY -- Lemuel Staley and Eloise Bollinger of Scott City died within nine hours of each other Saturday, Sept. 12, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Lemuel Bollinger, 90, was born March 3, 1902, in Graysboro, the son of Joseph Henry and Sarah Elizabeth Staley Bollinger.
He was a retired teacher and administrator at Scott City and Oran high schools and several other schools in Southeast Missouri. He graduated from the State Teachers College in Cape Girardeau and received his master's degree from the University of Missouri at Columbia. He was a member of the H.O. Grauel Masonic Lodge of Cape Girardeau.
Eloise Bollinger, 82, was born Jan. 9, 1910, at Ramsey, Ill., the daughter of Vinton and Nettie Roadarmel Harley. She was a housewife and former city collector at Scott City.
They were married Sept. 5, 1929, at Illmo and were members of the Illmo United Methodist Church in Scott City.
Survivors include a son, Jim Bollinger of Scott City; a daughter, Lola Wheeler of Jackson; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a brother, Lyle Harley of Fenton, Mich., and a sister, Mae Reis, also of Fenton, Mich. He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters, and she was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, where funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Pamela Brakhage will officiate, and burial will be in the Friend Cemetery in Oran.
