Elnora Frederica Michel, 90, of Marietta, Ohio, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 1997, at Harmar Place in Marietta.
She was born Dec. 8, 1906, in Beemont, daughter of Louis H. and Emma Holtgrewe Brinkman. She and Dr. Russell J. Michel were married Nov. 9, 1935, in St. Louis. He died Sept. 7, 1989. He was a math professor at Southeast Missouri State University and had been chairman of the department. He retired in 1975.
Michel was a 1925 graduate of Owensville High School, 1930 graduate of Central Wesleyan College, and did graduate work at the University of Missouri.
She lived in Cape Girardeau 50 years, moving to Marietta in 1992. Michel was a secondary school teacher 17 years in Missouri, including schools in Cape Girardeau and Scott City.
Michel was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and United Methodist Woman, and had taught Sunday School. She was a member of Southeast University Faculty Dames, Chapter BI of PEO, Wednesday Club, Retired Teachers Association, and Southeast Missouri Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include two sons, John Michel of Marietta, Mark Michel of Albuquerque, N.M.; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-7 p.m. Friday.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Clayton Smith officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
