PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. -- Elmo Lincoln Johnson, 82, of Portageville, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, at his home.
He was born Nov. 18, 1923, at Garth Ky., son of Ed W. and Susan Barnes Johnson. He and Juanita Louise Taylor were married Nov. 20, 1945.
Johnson served with the 10th Mountain Division of the U.S. Army during World War II in Italy, North Africa and Austria. He co-owned the "61 Garage & Body Shop" for several years before working at Noranda Aluminum until his retirement in 1989.
Johnson was a member of the First Baptist Church in Portageville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and a sister.
Survivors include his wife; a son, the Rev. Jimmy Johnson of Portageville; two daughters, Phyllis Thompson of Round Rock, Texas, and Judy Johnson of Portageville; a sister, Susan Tatum, of Jackson; two brothers, Grey Johnson and Charles Johnson, both of Lilbourn, Mo.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at the DeLisle Funeral Chapel in Portageville, with burial at the Portageville Cemetery.
