Elmer F. "Stan" Standley, 91, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, June 23, 2003, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. He was born Dec. 22, 1911, in St. Louis, son of Burt and Lillie B. Frederick Standley. He and Vrada Belle Lohmann were married June 6, 1936, in St. Louis. She died Jan. 19, 1997...

Elmer F. "Stan" Standley, 91, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, June 23, 2003, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born Dec. 22, 1911, in St. Louis, son of Burt and Lillie B. Frederick Standley. He and Vrada Belle Lohmann were married June 6, 1936, in St. Louis. She died Jan. 19, 1997.

Mr. Standley attended Washington University in St. Louis.

He owned and operated Standley Batch Systems more than 50 years, beginning in the mid 1940s. He was a founding member of First Assembly of God Church in Jackson, and a board member of Mid-America Teen Challenge.

Survivors include two daughters, Lois Fisher of Grand Junction, Colo., Betty Briner of St. Louis; nine grandchildren, Rob Fisher, Pam Anderson, Tim Fisher, Jennifer Fisher, Chris Williams, Michael Briner, Patricia Moore, David Briner, Susan Briner; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a sister.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Dean Heady, the Rev. Larry Davis, and the Rev. Gary Petty will officiate. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made to Teen Challenge or First Assembly of God Church in Jackson.
