Elmer Squires, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at his home.
He was born Aug. 10, 1918, at Neelys Landing, Mo., son of Coley and Effie Walker Squires.
Squires was a lifelong resident of Missouri. He had worked at International Shoe Co., and was an automobile mechanic.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include six nieces, Shirley Slaughter, Dollie Farrar and Valarie Squires, all of Cape Girardeau, Gwendolyn Squires and Debra Williams of Kansas City, Mo., Anita Jones of St. Louis; a nephew, Robert Squires of Chicago; and a friend, Ida Mae Williams.
Friends may call at St. James A.M.E. Church after 11 a.m. Saturday.
The funeral will be at noon Saturday at the church, with the Rev. David Allen Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
Sparks Funeral Home in Charleston, Mo., is in charge of arrangements.
