DONGOLA, Ill. -- Elmer G. "Butch" Schlensker, 92, of New Albany, Ind., died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany. He was born Dec. 14, 1907, in Crawford County, Ind., son of John H. and Mary Lou Ruffner Schlensker. He married Holland J. Hinkle, who died Dec. 19, 1993...

DONGOLA, Ill. -- Elmer G. "Butch" Schlensker, 92, of New Albany, Ind., died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany.

He was born Dec. 14, 1907, in Crawford County, Ind., son of John H. and Mary Lou Ruffner Schlensker. He married Holland J. Hinkle, who died Dec. 19, 1993.

Schlensker was with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 50 years, retiring as superintendent. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and Cardinal Ritter Council Knights of Columbus.

He was formerly of Dongola.

Survivors include a friend who helped care for him, Robert L. Kost of New Albany.

Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola from 5-8 p.m. Sunday and Monday until time of service.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Msgr. Tom Miller officiating. Burial will be in American Legion Cemetery.
