JACKSON -- Elmer R. Schaper, 84, of Jackson, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 1992, at his home.
He was born Sept. 28, 1907, near Jackson, son of Louis and Anna Brennecke Schaper. He and Odene Kaufman were married Oct. 3, 1941. She died June 27, 1973.
Schaper farmed many years, and he and his wife operated Puls and Schaper Realty Co. about 15 years. He was a past committeeman of ASCS Office, and served on the Governor's Agriculture Committee.
He was active in Cape Girardeau County Democratic Party, and served two terms as county treasurer.
Schaper was a member of National Farmers Organization, Excelsior Masonic Lodge 441, Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 and New McKendree United Methodist Church. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen McCullough, Kathy Goodson and Kristi Watson; a brother, Herbert Schaper; a sister, Louise Milde, all of Jackson, and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Sam Roethemeyer will officiate, with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. today.
