JONESBORO, Ill. -- Elmer E. Moore, 81, of Jonesboro died Wednesday, May 21, 1997, at Union County Hospital in Anna.

He was born May 26, 1915, in Neelyville, Mo., son of Ray and Eva Estella Kelley Moore. He and Edith Stone were married July 9, 1978, in Jonesboro.

Formerly of Joliet, he retired from Caterpillar in 1976 and moved to Southern Illinois. He was a member and former president of Operators Local in Joliet. Moore was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, William Moore of Wilmington, Larry Moore of Coal City, John McHughes of Cobden; 14 daughters, Alma of the home, Joyce Skov, Judy Rodgers, Jerri, and Jill Moore, all of Wilmington, Alberta Novy and Belinda Lutz of Coal City, Christine Grait of Georgia, Joyce Peterson and Bobbie of Oklahoma, Cindy Smith and Polly Quintana of Jonesboro, Carol Park of Springfield, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Margaret of Georgia; two brothers, Carl Moore of Lansing, Mich., Willis Moore of Florida; 49 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, a daughter, a sister, four grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

Friends may call at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home in Jonesboro after 5 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Larry Shacklee officiating. Burial will be in Casper Cemetery.
