ANNA, Ill. -- Elmer E. Chamness, 82, of Anna, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 1995, at Memorial Nursing Home in St. Louis, Mo.

He was born June 18, 1913, in Carterville, son of Earl and Edith Pace Chamness. He and Mary Elizabeth Booth were married Dec. 27, 1945, in Angola, Ind.

Chamness was a retired banker. He was a member of Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Elks Lodge 1641, American Legion Post 344, and VFW Post 3455. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Marilyn Raphael of St. Louis, Mara Kresser of Ft. Worth, Texas, and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 6-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Steve Wilkinson officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Oakwood Cemetery in Carterville.
