STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. -- Elmer L. Donze, 93, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, at his home.
He was born Oct. 28, 1916, in Ste. Genevieve, son of Lawrence W. and Elizabeth M. Huck Donze. He and Betty Jane Schwent were married June 19, 1950.
Donze was owner/operator of KSGM Radio many years.
Survivors include a son, Elmo L. (Anne) Donze of Perryville, Mo.; a daughter, Dorcas E. (Carl) Grass of Ste. Genevieve; a sister, Aileen (Ralph "Dude") Portell of Ste. Genevieve; five grandchildren, Jack and Joy Donze, Alexandra, A.J. and Carl Grass; a great-grandchild, Andrew Schilly; two sisters-in-law, Yvonne (Clarence) Basler of Ste. Genevieve and Betty Lou Donze of Edgewater, Fla.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Cornelia Edwards, Doris Grenier-Neal, Aldine Lalumondier; four brothers, Norbert "Boats" Donze, Donald "Bates" Donze, Jerome "Noonie" Donze and Bill Donze.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Basler Funeral Home.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Church of Ste. Genevieve, with the Rev. Dennis Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Valle Spring Cemetery.
