JACKSON -- Elmer Crites, 89, of Jackson, died Wednesday, April 7, 1993, at St. Francis Medical Center. He was born Oct. 16, 1903, at Sedgewickville, son of Warren and Molly Robinson Crites. He and Lorene Rion were married Dec. 29, 1934. The Crites moved to Jackson in 1945. He worked at the former Bowman Milling Co. here, and at Brown Shoe in St. Louis a number of years. He also farmed part time, retiring in 1970...

JACKSON -- Elmer Crites, 89, of Jackson, died Wednesday, April 7, 1993, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 16, 1903, at Sedgewickville, son of Warren and Molly Robinson Crites. He and Lorene Rion were married Dec. 29, 1934.

The Crites moved to Jackson in 1945. He worked at the former Bowman Milling Co. here, and at Brown Shoe in St. Louis a number of years. He also farmed part time, retiring in 1970.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Cletus Crites of Cape Girardeau; four daughters, Irene Menge of St. Ann, Hilda McClain, Juanita Westrich and Wilma Brugger of Jackson; four sisters, Nelder Klob of Jackson, Lona Fee of Modesto, Calif., Norva Higgon of Springfield, Gertrude Froemsdorf of McClure; 10 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at McCombs Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Daniel Crites, a nephew, will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
