Ellen Dean Vinyard, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
She was born June 16, 1922, in Salem, Mo., daughter of Louie and Frances Elisabeth Underwood Hartsell. She and Walter Vinyard were married Oct. 13, 1943, in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Ellen was a life elder at First Christian Church, member of PEO, Telephone Pioneers of America (vice president and secretary), and Cape Executive Club. She worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone 28 1/2 years, retiring in 1978.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Phil Vinyard of Clarkson Valley, Mo.; a daughter, Pam Fraley of Chester, Ill.; a sister, Frances Shapiro of Fullerton, Calif.; three grandchildren, Ryan Fraley of Chester, Christopher Vinyard and Rebecca Vinyard of Clarkson Valley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and two sisters.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Larry Grubbs officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
