Ella Mae Branum Wilkins, formerly of Hornersville, Mo., died Sunday evening, Dec. 2, 2001, in Cape Girardeau, Mo. She was 97 years old.

Mrs. Ella Mae Wilkins was born in Hornersville, Mo., on Jan. 22, 1904, to the late Ruth Underwood Branum and William H. Branum. She was married on Dec. 25, 1926, to Thomas R. Wilkins. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1981. She was also preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters. Those siblings are Lillie Kennett, Peter V. Branum, Emma Dunaway, Louie Branum, James Albert Branum, Clarence Branum, Betty Edmunds, Bessie Bohannan, and Milton Branum.

Mrs. Wilkins is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Marshall; a sister, Alice Snider; four grandchildren, Jane Gaffigan, Kathleen Menz, Faith Welker, and J. Mark Marshall; and three great-grandchildren, Christopher Menz, Ryan Marshall, and Katelyn Menz.

Mrs. Wilkins was a teacher for nearly 50 years in the area. She taught in Sikeston, Campbell, Hornersville, Holland, and Charleston. She was a member of RTA and MSTA and OES. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hornersville, Mo.

Visitation will be held at the Emerson Bradshaw Funeral Home in Hornersville, Mo., today. Family is invited at 5 p.m. Friends are invited at 6 p.m. There is an OES service at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, at First United Methodist Church in Hornersville, Mo., with the Revs. Mike Hargrave and Charles Marshall officiating. Burial services will be held at Horner Cemetery in Hornersville, Mo.

Floral arrangements may be sent to the Bradshaw-Emerson Funeral Home in Hornersville, Mo.
