JONESBORO, Ill. -- Joint funeral service for Elizabeth S. "Betty" and Richard L. "Richie" Gibbs, Jonesboro Route 1, will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Jonesboro. The Revs. Eric Wizard, Bob Easton, Verlee Eaker and A.W. Landis will officiate, with burial in Jonesboro Cemetery.

Elizabeth, 35, died early Friday, Jan. 10, 1992, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

Richard, 36, died Monday, Jan. 6, 1992 at his home.

She was born Oct. 23, 1956, at Sterling, daughter of Kenneth and Mary George Dangbar. He was born Sept. 17, 1955, in Anna, son of Luther and Gladys Arnold Gibbs. They were married June 7, 1974, at Reynoldsville.

Elizabeth was a home health care worker, and member of Anna Church of God. Richard was a boiler operator with Uniman Co. in Elco, a member of Reynoldsville Baptist Church, and Laborers Local 1440 in Cairo.

They are survived by a son, Mark Gibbs of Jonesboro.

She is also survived by her parents, Mary and Leon McWhorter of Anna; five brothers, Jack Cochran of Buncombe, Brad and Larry McWhorter of Anna, Joey McWhorter of Clinton, Ky., Rick McWhorter of Union City, Tenn.; two sisters, Etha Anderson of Carterville, Donna Gibbs of Anna, and maternal grandparents, Robert and Emma George of Anna.

Richard is also survived by a brother, Gary Gibbs, and a sister, Maxine Pender of Jonesboro.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her father.
