ST. LOUIS -- Elizabeth R. Smith, 91, formerly of Puxico, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at the Christian Hospital Northeast in St. Louis.
She was born Aug. 1, 1907, in McGee to Charley Lewis and Mary Ollie Ross Rodgers.
She had lived in St. Louis for many years before returning to Puxico after her retirement. She returned to St. Louis two years ago because of her health. She was a member of the Puxico First Baptist Church and had been active at the First Baptist Church in St. Louis. She had been a Sunday School teacher and an officer in the Adult Sunday School Class.
She married Byron H. Smith of St. Louis April 23, 1927.
Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Betty Muth of St. Louis; a sister, Ruby Welch of Flint, Mich.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers.
Friends may call at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico after 11 a.m. on Monday.
Funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday int he Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico, with the Rev. Marshall Link officiating and the Rev. Doug Scott assisting. Burial will be in the Puxico Cemetery.
