CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Elizabeth A. "Betty" McFerron, 88, of Chaffee passed away Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015, at Chaffee Nursing Center. She was born Feb. 9, 1927, in Chaffee, to Clarence E. and Bessie May Schultz Campbell. Betty and G.E. "Bill" McFerron were married July 3, 1946. He preceded her in death Feb. 27, 2004...

CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Elizabeth A. "Betty" McFerron, 88, of Chaffee passed away Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015, at Chaffee Nursing Center.

She was born Feb. 9, 1927, in Chaffee, to Clarence E. and Bessie May Schultz Campbell. Betty and G.E. "Bill" McFerron were married July 3, 1946. He preceded her in death Feb. 27, 2004.

Betty retired as a secretary at Union Electric in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chaffee; Chaffee PEO Chapter CX; Chaffee Order of Eastern Star 48, later known as Morley Order of Eastern Star; and secretary of the Ladies Auxiliary to Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.

Survivors include a son, William "Bill" (Alice) McFerron of Chaffee; a daughter, Sarah (Mike) Dumey of Bloomfield, Missouri; five grandchildren, Darin McFerron, Collin Dumey, Brooke Harrell, Megan Powderly and Kurt Dumey; seven great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Austin and Hayden McFerron, Khloe Harrell, Nicholas, Lucas and Aubrey Powderly; and a great-grandson, Gabriel Dumey, on the way.

She was also preceded in death by her stepmother, Luella Campbell; five brothers, C.E., Ed, Robert, George and Chester; and two sisters, Bess and Kathleen.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. The PEO service will be at 7 p.m.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Gwen Streeter officiating. Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Chaffee Public Library or Chaffee United Methodist Church.
