CAIRO, Ill. -- Elizabeth "Libby" Rose Carter Morin, 98, of Cairo passed away Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, in Spring Hill, Florida.

Libby was born Feb. 19, 1917, in Vienna, Illinois, daughter of James and Myrtle Hankins Carter. She was the youngest of eight children, all of whom preceded her in death. Libby married Joe Morin in 1987, and they spent many wonderful years together until his passing in 2013.

Their home was in Cairo, and Libby and Joe spent their winters in Spring Hill, where they would enjoy the beautiful weather and spending time with their dear friends. Her lifelong friends, most of whom have preceded her in death, were all in Cairo, and it was there she spent her days socializing and spending time at her favorite place, Magnolia Manor. Libby worked tirelessly her entire life to preserve the beauty of the home she once lived in with the Langan Family and her children, George Langan and Barbara Langan Fredrickson. She hosted hundreds of luncheons and gave countless tours of the manor. Her absolute favorite time at the manor was Holiday House.

Libby was owner/operator of Interstate Mills, which produced various products from cotton seed hulls. She independently ran the business for many years.

Libby is survived by grandson George P. Langan III and wife, Jennifer; their children, Josh and Libby (named after her great-grandmother) of LaGrange, Illinois; granddaughter Laura Langan Roberts and husband Derek; their children, Sean and Ryan Carter (also named after his 'Grandma-Great') of Springfield, Illinois; grandson Mark Fredrickson of South Carolina; stepdaughter Jo McNulty and husband Kevin of Cairo; and daughter-in-law Kay Langan, of Springfield.

Libby will be remembered for her strong will and determination; her generosity and her love for her family and friends.

Libby always returned to Cairo, her home, every year. She would say, "I'll be home when the dogwoods bloom." In honor of this, a celebration of her amazing life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. A reception and luncheon will follow at Magnolia Manor in Cairo.

Memorial contributions may be made to Magnolia Manor, Elizabeth Morin Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 286, Cairo, IL 62914.
