Elizabeth "Liz" Katherine Farmer, 73, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, Jan. 18, 2019, into the open arms of our Lord Jesus Christ. Above all she loved the Lord and served Him as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandma and great-grandmother "Gi-Gi."

Liz was born Feb. 5, 1945, as Elizabeth Katherine Faust to Delbert Jeremiah and Aleta Marie Stevens Faust of Cape Girardeau. Liz was married to Ernest "Ernie" Kent Farmer on Dec. 19, 1981. They were married for 37 years.

She graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1963 and went on to get her Bachelor of Science in 1967 and master's in 1984 in education. She taught and also was a counselor for the Scott City School District for many years. In addition, she worked as a bookkeeper and later in testing at the neurology department for Saint Francis Medical Center.

She and Ernie served the Lord through their church, assisting in planting Fruitland Community Church, where she loved teaching the fourth-grade Sunday school and was a big part of the Fall Festival outreach for many years. They were actively involved in the retired Southeast Missouri State University History Department monthly breakfasts. Liz enjoyed Bible Study Fellowship's area day class and later the evening class, where she made many wonderful friends. She was part of the Joy Club at Bethany Baptist Church.

Liz is survived by her husband, Ernie Farmer; three sons, Randall S. (Natasha) Moore of Jackson, Michael L. (Michelle) Moore of Cape Girardeau and Roger T. Moore of St. Louis; a daughter, Veronica K. Boardrow of Perryville, Missouri; two sisters, Caroline LaFentres of Cape Girardeau and Judy Wattles of Ramsey, Illinois; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Liz was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Joseph Roger Faust.
