BENTON, Mo. -- Elizabeth Ann Higdon Brewer, 80, of Benton died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021, at the home of her daughter in Sikeston, Missouri, following an extended illness.

Elizabeth was born Oct. 25, 1940, in Matthews, Missouri, the daughter of the late Horace Elwin and Daisy Mae Hickman Higdon Jr.

On June 14, 1959, in Portageville, Missouri, she married James E. "Eddie" Brewer Sr. He preceded her in death Dec. 3, 2002.

Elizabeth and her husband, Eddie, were lifelong farmers in the Sikeston and Benton areas, raising crops, cattle and horses.

She was member of the Benton Homemakers, River Heritage Quilter's Guild and the Women in Agriculture Club. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Benton, where she had been a Sunday school teacher and vacation Bible school teacher for many years. She regularly attended a Bible study group which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Tina Higdon of Marble Hill, Missouri, and James E. "Eddie" and Emma Brewer Jr. of Jackson; a daughter and son-in-law, Terry Brewer-LaFont and Patrick LaFont of Sikeston; sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Luke Boyette of Sikeston; brother, William "Dub" Higdon of Sikeston; brother-in-law and his wife, John and Margie Brewer of Chattanooga, Tennessee; brother-in-law and his wife, Lan and Geraldine Coots of Advance, Missouri; six grandchildren and their spouses, Joy and Earl Dean Livesay of Maryville, Missouri; Jacob Reinagel of Scott City; Jared and Ashley Brewer of Sikeston; Lance and Tara LaFont of Oxford, Mississippi; Jamie and Nick Allen of Spring Hill, Tennessee; and Katie Brewer of Gordonville; great-grandson, Logan James Allen of Spring Hill; and two great-granddaughters, Brie and Wesley LaFont of Oxford; many loving nieces, nephews, friends and family.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her in-laws James Osby and Viola Ditto Brewer of Sikeston, and a sister-in-law, Irma Coots of Advance.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dennis Lowe officiating. Burial will follow in the Unity Baptist Church Cemetery in Benton.
