DONGOLA, Ill. -- Eli B. Helton, 76, of Dongola died Monday, May 7, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born April 2, 1925, in Dongola, son of Dennis and Ola Vick Helton. He and Doris Hargis were married Feb. 16, 1947, in Union County. She died March 26, 1987,

Helton was an inspector with Department of Agriculture.

Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Acuff of Dongola; two sons, Eli Helton of Waukesha, Wis., Kevin Helton of Anna, Ill.; a friend, Clela Wenger of Jonesboro, Ill.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Friends may call at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home in Jonesboro from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
