CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Eleanora (Nora) Susan Pobst, 97, of Chaffee was given eternal rest Saturday, April 16, 2005, at the Chaffee Nursing Center.
She was born Jan. 31, 1908, in Caney, Mo., daughter of the late Tony and Ida Dannenmueller Gosche. She and Matthew Pobst were married April 23, 1929. He died in 1962.
Nora retired in 1972 from Thorngates (formerly Bucksteins) in Chaffee. After her retirement, she filled her time volunteering and helping others. Each Friday, one could find her at the local thrift shop, and on Saturdays she was a greeter at the Chaffee General Hospital, up to the time of its closing. Most every day of the week, she was at the Chaffee Nutrition Center and attended daily Mass at St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
She was also a member of St. Ambrose Parish, the Daughters of St. Ambrose, VFW Auxiliary 3127 and the RSVP of Chaffee.
Nora was grateful and appreciated her life. She was a kind, beautiful and thoughtful lady, never complaining. Everyone's needs came before her own. She loved the outdoors, her flowers and the trees. She enjoyed traveling, as she did with some of her lady friends whenever she had an opportunity. Nora's strongest love was that of her faith, church and family that our Lord had so richly blessed her with.
Nora is survived by three sons, Clifford and wife Mary Rose Pobst, Larry and wife Glenda Pobst, and Mike Pobst, all of Chaffee; a sister, Wilma Metz of Oran, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Irmina, Corona and Leona; three brothers, John, Zeno and Harold; and a daughter-in-law, Wanda Pobst.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, with parish prayers at 7 p.m.
The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, with the Rev. Ralph Duffner officiating. Burial will be in St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery.
