PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Eleanor M. Wingerter, 100, passed away on Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, at the Perry County Nursing Home in Perryville.
She was born to the late Peter Paul and Anna (Demick) Braun on Aug. 20, 1906, in Evansville, Ill. She and Lenus H. Wingerter were married on June 12, 1929, in Chester, Ill. He preceded her in death on May 22, 1977.
Eleanor was a retired cafeteria supervisor. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chester. Eleanor was a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality, VFW Auxiliary and the Jolly 8 Pinochle Club.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, William and Patricia Wingerter of Perryville, Donald and Geraldine Wingerter of Chester, Ill. and Thomas and Peggy Wingerter of Sparta, Ill.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Leo Cummins of Ballwin, Mo. and Margaret and John Morgan of Evansville, Ind.; two daughters-in-law, Lois Wingerter of Sedalia, Mo., and Agnes Wingerter of Rockford, Mich.; 29 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lenus Wingerter, two sons, Robert and James Wingerter, two grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 7:30 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Schroeder-McClure Funeral Chapel in Chester, Ill.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chester with the Monsignor Dennis Schaefer, Father Gene Wojcik, Father Romaine Morales, C.M. and Father Robert Braun, O.M.I. officiating. Interment will be at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Chester.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic School in Chester.
