Eleanor Rose Haman, 93, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024, at Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born June 27, 1930 in Gordonville to Alvin John Jacob and Elsie Amolia Marie Graden Grossheider.
She and James "Jim" G. Haman were married May 15, 1954, at Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville. They joined Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau, where they were lifetime members.
Eleanor began her professional career working in the Cape Girardeau office of the county collector. After the birth of their first child, she became a full-time mom until she and Jim purchased their family business, Haman's Kastle Studio, working there 25 years. In the business, she served as business partner, receptionist, working with the people and wrangling the dogs and kids that they photographed. In the early days of the business, she hand-tinted black and white photographs. She and Jim retired in 1988, spending lots of time with their children and grandchildren. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, which always reminded her of her father.
Survivors include three daughters, Jennifer (Stephen) March of Webster Groves, Denise Salmon of Cape Girardeau and Gail (Ken) Gregory of the Columbus, Ohio, area; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Paul A. Salmon; and seven sisters, Edna Flanigan, Lorene Grossheider, Ruth Cropp, Frances McNeely, Roberta Robinson, Jean McHenry and Barbara Venz.
