ADVANCE, Mo. -- Eleanor Mae Carr, 85, of Advance passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Aug. 6, 1933, at St. Louis, the daughter of Ulysses Charles and Eva Adaline Staats Gould. Eleanor and James Robert Carr were united in marriage Nov. 19, 1955, at Advance, and he preceded her in death Dec. 24, 2003.
Eleanor retired in 1995, after working for Jim Wilson Co. for over 25 years. She attended Bethel General Baptist Church and all services held at Advance Assisted Living.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby (Ruth) Carr of Zalma, Missouri, and Tom (Alice) Carr of Madisonville, Kentucky; two daughters, Clemmie (Russ) Loughary of Advance and Karen (Randy) Sanders of Zalma; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Thelbert and Jim Gould; three sisters, LaDonna Kerns, LaDenna Murphy and Ruth Ann Grant; and a great-grandson, Bradley Carr.
One never knows what challenges life may bring from day to day, but Eleanor always told her children, "God takes care of all things." They are thankful for a Christian mother, who held their hands when they were little and their hearts forever. They look forward to a glad reunion day with her.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Fred Ritter and Ray Placher officiating. Burial will follow at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Bollinger County Stray Project in Zalma. This was chosen in memory of Eleanor's dog, Bitty, who played a major role in her recovery from strokes in 2010. She never stopped saving table scraps for the strays.
