SCOTT CITY -- Eldon K. Riggs, 87, of Scott City died Monday, July 12, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 20, 1912, in Pine Bluff, Ark., son of Chester Burl and Vellerie May Smith Riggs. He first married Claudia Bohannon March 18, 1933. She died Nov. 3, 1963. He later married Elizabeth O'Dell Talley Sept. 6, 1968.
Riggs retired as an engineer with Cotton Belt Railroad.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Charles Riggs of Warsaw, Mo., Kenneth Riggs of Cypress, Texas, David Riggs of Upland, Calif.; a daughter, Barbara Windeknecht of Waterloo, Ill.; a stepson, Ronald Talley of Scott City; two stepdaughters, Linda Owen of Scott City, Kathy Simmons of Advance; 22 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, three brothers, and a sister.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City after 6 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Revs. Earl Ames and Luther Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
