WHITEWATER -- Funeral service for Elda Alma Niswonger of Whitewater will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chaffee. The Rev. Wayne Schwiesow will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. Friday, and at the church Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until service time.
Niswonger, 88, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born May 27, 1909, at Uniontown, daughter of Christian Phillip and Sulamith V. Hopfer Kassell. She and Truman A. Niswonger were married May 31, 1929. He died Jan. 22, 1992.
Niswonger had been at the Lutheran Home since November. She had been a member of St. Paul Church 61 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Abernathy of Whitewater, Doris Coomer of Chaffee; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 10 brothers, four sisters, and a great-grandchild.
