MARBLE HILL -- Elbert "Dude" Cook, 73, of Marble Hill died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 18, 1923, in the Hurricane community of Bollinger County, son of the Rev. Elza and Hattie Cook. He and Geraldine Garland were married Aug. 4, 1944.
Cook worked several years for the Missouri Highway Department, and retired as farming superintendent with Dr. William L. Seabaugh Farms in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of Hurricane Fork General Baptist Church, and 3rd Degree member of Trowell Masonic Lodge AF&AM.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Junior, Jimmie, James "Toad" and Rick Cook; two brothers, Odie and John Cook; two sisters, Anna Douglas and Mary Long, all of Marble Hill; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill after 2:30 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Jimmy Fulbright and Steven Sander officiating. Burial will be in Hurricane Fork Cemetery.
