Elaine Mead

DONGOLA, Ill. -- Elaine Mead, 68, of Dongola died Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at her home.

She was born July 31, 1937, in Dongola, daughter of Lewis and Alva Miller Dillow. She and Edward Hill were married in March 1956. He died Nov. 11, 1960. She and Charles "Chuck" Mead were married May 17, 1963. He died May 29, 1987.

Mead was a cashier at Wal-Mart, and member of First Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Sonia Merriman of Anna, Ill., Deborah Dunn of Cypress, Ill.; a son, Randy Mead of Dongola; her mother of Dongola; a stepdaughter, Cindy Licciardone of Hammond, Ind.; two stepsons, Mike Mead of Paris, Tenn., Tom Mead of Greenville, S.C.; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and 14 stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Ruth Hansen officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
