Elaine Martha Followell, 84, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center. A public graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cape County Memorial Park. The Rev. Dwayne Followell will officiate. Mrs. Followell was born Oct. 27, 1915, in Milwaukee, Wis., daughter of the late Jesse and Edna Kocher Hawn. She and Harold William Followell were married Sept. 28, 1936. He preceded her in death April 18, 1984...

Elaine Martha Followell, 84, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.

Loving survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Dwayne and Cecilia Followell of Montour Falls, N.Y.; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Sue and Donald Ray Hixon of Melissa, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Followell of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren, Rachel and Natalie Followell, Mindy Zielinski, Misty Gurnsey and Matthew Followell.

She was also preceded by a son, Bradley Followell.

Mrs. Followell attended SEMO University. She was a 50-year member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. She did volunteer health care in local hospitals and private homes, and was formerly active in the PTA at Jefferson School.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Cross Generations Youth Center.
