Eileen Davied Hoskin, 93, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born Nov. 16, 1919, at Mountain View, Mo., daughter of Edward R. and Nina Porter Davied. She married Alvin W. Hoskin on Dec. 30, 1939, in Springfield, Mo.
Eileen graduated from high school at Mountain View and attended Draughon's Business College in Springfield. During World War II, she was employed by the Navy Department in Washington, D.C., and also at Consolidated Aircraft in San Diego. She lived in Troy, Mo., from 1946 until 1951. She was very active in Red Cross work and as a Girl Scout leader. She was also a Sunday school teacher in the Methodist church.
In 1951 she moved to Cape Girardeau with her husband and became active in Centenary United Methodist Church and federated garden clubs. She was secretary to the district manager of DeKalb Agricultural Association about 10 years. In 1965 she was employed by the SEMO Library System until 1972, and was then employed as a secretary at St. Vincent's Seminary until its closing in 1979.
Surviving are three brothers, Eugene, Wayne and Lloyd, all of Mountain View; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother, four sisters and a niece.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Karen Nothdurft officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, she requested memorials be made to Centenary United Methodist Church, 300 N. Ellis St., Cape Girardeau, MO 63701; or to Missouri Chapter of The Nature Conservancy, 2800 S. Brentwood Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63144.
