Edwin "Ted" Meyer Sr., 76, of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, Feb. 18, 1994, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Sept. 7, 1917 at Sappington, Mo., son of William D. Meyer and Hattie Gordon Meyer.
He married the former Norma Lee Simpson on July 6, 1946 at St. Louis. She preceded him in death Sept. 17, 1973.
Meyer, a resident of the Missouri Veteran's Home, 2400 Veteran's Memorial Drive, since 1990, served in the Army from June of 1943 until April of 1946. Following active duty, he served in the U.S. Army Reserve as a Master Sergeant with the Ordinance Battalion.
He was a member of the VFW Post 3838 of Cape Girardeau. He worked for Central Materials Co. from 1959 to 1973 as estimator and salesman for asphalt and concrete work.
He is survived by two sons, Ted Meyer Jr. of Tampa, Fla., and Harvey Meyer, of Chaffee; two daughters, Linda Metheny of Cape Girardeau and Kim Minner of High Ridge, Mo.; a brother, George Meyer, of House Springs, Mo.; two sisters, Marge Pahlmann, Fenton, and Caroline Schuler, Webster Groves; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Service will be held at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel Monday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Michael J. Davis officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The VFW Post 3838 will provide military rites at the cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home today between 4 and 8 p.m.
