Edwin O. Calvert, 83, of Barlow, Ky., and formerly of Cairo, Ill, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at Life Care Center in LaCenter, Ky.
He was born Sept. 15, 1920, in Miller City, Ill., son of Alfred and Fannie Lane Calvert. He was married to EmmaJean Calvert, She died in 1997.
Calvert retired from the American-Illinois Water Works in Cairo after 38 years. He was a member of Barlow Baptist Church.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of Cairo VFW Post 2649.
Survivors include three daughters, Connie Bray of Barlow, Sue Moreland of Ware, Ill., and Kay Patterson of Clarkston, Mich.; five sons, Edwin Gene Calvert of East Cape Girardeau, Ill., David Calvert of Miller City, Melvin Calvert of Clinton, Ky., Mike Calvert of Mounds, Ill., and Jerry Calvert of Cairo; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, a sister and three brothers.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Tom Camp officiating. Burial will be Mound City National Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Pulaski County Memorial Post 8891.
