CHAFFEE -- Service for Edward V. Simpher will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel at Chaffee, with Rev. Roger Leveillee officiating, assisted by Rev. Kenneth Martin. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Cape Girardeau.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.

Simpher, 70 years old, of Dutchtown, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 1990, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born in Blomeyer, Mo., Feb. 5, 1920, son of Louis and Elizabeth Wagener Simpher.

In April of 1972, he married Henrietta Borneman. She preceded him in death in January of 1984.

He was of the Catholic faith.

He was a self-employed farmer 25 years. Then he worked for Atlas Plastics, retiring in 1985.

Survivors include a son, John Simpher, of Cape Girardeau; daughter Linda Coomer of Route 2, Chaffee; two sisters, Hermina Gardiner of Dutchtown, and Clementine Stobel of Bell City; two grandsons, Dean Davis of Chaffee, and Jeff Davis, stationed on the USS Cayuga with the Navy; and one great grandson, Clayton Davis, of Chaffee.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
