SCOTT CITY -- Edward Phillip Blattel, 86, of Scott City, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1993, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Dec. 23, 1906, in New Hamburg, son of Antone and Regina Diebold Blattel. He and Josephine Griffin were married April 19, 1927. She died May 17, 1968.
Blattel was a retired farmer, member of St. Augustine Catholic Church at Kelso, and Knights of Columbus Council 1111 in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include three sons, Earl Blattel, Chaffee Route 1, Norman Blattel, Scott City Route 1, Leon Blattel of St. Charles; two brothers, Zeno Blattel of Kelso, Mike Blattel, Chaffee Route 1; two sisters, Blandine Westrich, Chaffee Route 1, Cyrilla Davis of St. Louis; 28 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son, five daughters and a sister.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Augustine Church. Msgr. John Westhues will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Chaffee after 4 p.m. today. KC Council 1111 will have a prayer service at 7:30, with the rosary at 8.
