Edward C. Nobus, 86, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at Monticello House in Jackson.
He was born May 25, 1922, in Belgique, Mo., son of Edward and Mary Verstringer Nobus. He and Esther Bingenheimer McClard were married Dec. 5, 1981.
Edward was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson, where he served on the church council and as an usher. He worked as a security guard for SEMO Security at Procter & Gamble.
Loving survivors include his wife of 26 years; a daughter, Barbara Carlson of Crowley, Texas; three stepdaughters, Barbara Chaney of Jackson, Teresa Wright of Jackson, Shirley (Jerry) Cates of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Mary Duvall of Granite City, Ill.; two grandsons, Mitch Huber and Logan Huber; five stepgrandchildren, Scott Wright, Dustin Wright, Ben Chaney, Courtney Cates and Ryan Cates; six great-stepgrandchildren, Alexis Wright, Elijah Wright, Nolan Wright, Spencer Wright, Brendon Johnson and Ashlee Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Thomas A. Nobus and Edward J. Nobus; a brother, Henry Nobus; three sisters, Pauline Ernst, Louise Kiefer and Iva Zahner; and a stepson, Carl McClard.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery.
