CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Funeral service for Edward M. VanWeelden of Boca Raton, Fla. will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau.

Fr. Art Basler will officiate and burial will be at the Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Mr. VanWeelden died Friday at the Boca Raton Community Hospital. He was 40.

He was born Sept. 10, 1950 in Chicago, the son of Edward F. and Laverne Herman VanWeelden.

He had been a consultant with a cellular communications firm in Boca Raton, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served in the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include a son, Joel M. VanWeelden of Cora Springs, Fla., his mother, Laverne, of Cape Girardeau; and three brothers, Gary VanWeelden of Cape Girardeau, Michael VanWeelden of St. Louis, and Mark VanWeelden of Champaign-Urbana, Ill.

He was preceded in death June 14, 1988 by his father.

Friends may call today from 6-9 p.m. at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Chapel. Parish prayers will be held today at 7:30 p.m. at the chapel.
