NEW HAMBURG -- Funeral Mass for Edward "Shorty" Glastetter, New Hamburg Route 1, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. The Rev. Ralph Duffner will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton after 4 p.m. today. The rosary will be at 7, and Knights of Columbus service at 7:15.

Glastetter, 91, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 1996, at Heartland Care and Rehab Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Aug. 15, 1905, at Kelso, son of William F. and Catherine Leible Glastetter. He and Coletta Theresa Glaus were married Feb. 1, 1926. She died Oct. 27, 1971.

Glastetter farmed in the area more than 70 years, and also made and sold sorghum molasses. He was a member of St. Lawrence Church, its Men's Sodality, and Cursillo.

Survivors include three sons, Clyde Glastetter of Chaffee, Gary Glastetter of New Hamburg, Roy Glastetter of New Madrid; two daughters, Marcella Kapfer of Cape Girardeau, Alice Ressel of Scott City; 27 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and seven sisters.
