VILLA RIDGE, Ill. -- Edward F. Dyas, 93, of Villa Ridge died Friday, May 9, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo. He was born July 29, 1903, in Cairo, son of Edward and Minnie Wallbum Dyas. He married the former Catherine G. "Katie" Sweeney, who died April 17, 1995...

VILLA RIDGE, Ill. -- Edward F. Dyas, 93, of Villa Ridge died Friday, May 9, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

He was born July 29, 1903, in Cairo, son of Edward and Minnie Wallbum Dyas. He married the former Catherine G. "Katie" Sweeney, who died April 17, 1995.

Dyas was a retired saw filer, and member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mound City.

Survivors include a daughter, Ann Wissinger of Cairo; two sons, James Dyas of Springfield, Fred Dyas of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a sister, Catherine Newell of Cairo; 16 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter.

Friends may call at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge from 5-8 p.m. Sunday. The rosary will be recited at 7.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Church, with the Rev. Bill McGhee officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
