EAST PRAIRIE -- Funeral service for Edward "Bugs" Burney Jr. of East Prairie will be held at 2 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Chapel. Richard Farquhar and David Dowdy will officiate, with burial in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
Burney, 69, died Friday, Aug. 20, 1993, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 7, 1924, in Hickman, Ky., son of Edward and Fronie Aday Burney Sr. He and the former Gladys Marks were married Oct. 14, 1945, in Tiptonville, Tenn.
Burney was a farmer, and member of Freewill General Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three brothers, Bob Burney of Dorena, Charlie and Bill Burney of East Prairie; three sisters, Louise Wallace, Dorothy Marks and Gladys Terry of East Prairie.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
