Edna Louise Peetz, 84, of Jackson slipped peacefully into heaven Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She had been suffering from kidney failure.
One of five children, Edna was born Aug. 26, 1931, near Sikeston, Missouri, to Roy and Leona Greenlee. She married Norman R. Peetz on May 16, 1948, at Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson. They enjoyed 36 years of marriage before Norman passed away Sept. 27, 1984, after a short bout with cancer.
Loving survivors include three daughters, Pam (Kyle) Duren of West Paducah, Kentucky; Sherri (Danny) Compton of Kevil, Kentucky; Marsha (Kelvin) Birk of Jackson; six grandchildren: Ryan (Melissa) Duren and children Abigayle and Reed of Kevil; Rachel Jackson and children Cody and Nolan of Kevil; Chad (Tammy) Compton and children Alyssa and Kade of Kevil; Brett (Afton) Compton of Kevil; Kelsie Birk and Adam Birk, both of Jackson; two siblings, J. L. (Geneva) Greenlee of Sikeston, Missouri, and Doe Spears of LaCenter, Kentucky; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Lena Sexton; and an infant brother, R. B. Greenlee.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson and from 1 p.m. to service time Wednesday at St. James United Church of Christ in Tilsit, Missouri.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Burial will be private in the church cemetery.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. James United Church of Christ.
