SIKESTON -- Edna Irene Jackson, 87, of Lake Charles, La., died Friday, Feb. 21, 1997, at Oak Park Nursing Center in Lake Charles.
She was born June 22, 1909, in Blytheville, Ark., daughter of Charley L. and Odie B. Thompson Freeman. She and Thames F. Jackson Sr. were married Feb. 22, 1930, in Blytheville. He died April 16, 1962.
Formerly of Morehouse and Sikeston, she was a longtime member of Rauch-Spence Memorial United Methodist Church in Morehouse. Jackson was a member and past worthy matron of Morehouse Chapter 450 Order of Eastern Star.
She operated Jackson Brothers Hardware Store in Morehouse several years, was a receptionist and cashier at Two-Tony's Restaurant in Sikeston, and had been a nurse aide at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Survivors include two sons, Thames Jackson Jr. of San Antonio, Texas, Dan Jackson of Greenville, Tenn.; a daughter, Jo Ann Todd of Sulphur, La.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 6-8 p.m. today. An Eastern Star service will be held at 7.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rauch-Spence Church, with the Rev. Jerry Turner officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
