Edmund F. Bax, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, June 9, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 19, 1914, at St. Elizabeth, Mo., son of Bernard H. and Elizabeth Elchholz Bax. He and Josephine M. Elfrink were married July 30, 1940, in Leopold, Mo.
Bax was a retired building contractor from Bax Construction. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church at Leopold.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving a Purple Heart, Victory Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, and Good Conduct Medal.
Survivors include his wife; two brothers, Leander Bax of St. Anthony, Mo., Gregor Bax of St. Paul, Mo.; three sisters, Christine Miesner of Washington, Mo., Josephine Green of St. Anthony, and Rosalie Gudeman of Tuscumbia, Mo.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, Mo., from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Parish prayers and Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 7:30.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Church, with the Rev. Bill Huggins officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
