Edmund "Jim" Ballard, 81, of Owensboro, Ky., died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 1995, at Owensboro Mercy Health Systems.

He was born Feb. 13, 1914, in Daviess County, Ky., son of Evaristus and Birdie Wayne Leigh Ballard. He and Mary Martine Howard were married in 1935.

Ballard retired as plant manager from Murphy Miller and Ballard Saw Shop in Stanley, Ky. He was a member of St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church and charter member of Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Wayne and Stephen Ballard of Owensboro, Raymond Ballard of Woodbridge, Va., Michael Ballard of Stanley; five daughters, Mary Brown of Cape Girardeau, Marie Blumeier of Louisville, Ky., Anna Stith of Henderson, Ky., Rosie Cox of Biloxi, Miss., Nancy O'Bryan of Stanley; a brother, George Ballard of Owensboro; two sisters, Belma Howard of Louisville, Virginia Hamilton of San Diego, Calif.; 35 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home in Owensboro from 2-8 p.m. today, and Friday from 8-9:30 a.m. A prayer service will be held at 7 tonight.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter Church, with the Rev. Paul Powell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
