Edith M. Lansmon, 97, of Cape Girardeau, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

Edith was born on March 7, 1927, in Chaffee to Sylvester and Elizabeth Owens Matthews. She married James R. Lansmon on Jan. 29, 1949, in Hernando, Mississippi.

She was a 1944 graduate of Chaffee High School.

Edith was a devoted homemaker who also found joy in gardening and quilting. She was an active member of Exchangettes and Saint Francis Medical Center auxiliaries.

She is survived by her two daughters, Kathryn (Larry) Pickett of St. Charles and Theresa Mitchell of Belleville, Illinois; her son, William Lansmon of Lewisville, Texas; five grandchildren, Erin (Christian) Winter, William (Emily) Lansmon, Laura Lansmon, Thomas Mitchell and Sarah Mitchell; and three great-grandchildren, Emma Winter, Sebastian Winter and Margaret Edith Lansmon.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Lansmon; parents; siblings; son, Jimmy Lansmon; and daughter, Patricia Lansmon.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 2, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, with parish prayers at 6:30 p.m.

The funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 3, at Old St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Allan Saunders officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
