Edgar Degenhardt

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Edgar E. Degenhardt, 92, of Perryville died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at Perry County Nursing Home.

He was born Nov. 7, 1912, at Wittenberg, Mo., son of Augusta and Mathilde Sarah Poppitz Degenhardt. He and Eleanor Nolle were married July 21, 1971.

Degenhardt was retired from the U. S. Army, and also retired as a guidance counselor and teacher. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 133. He was a former board member of Perry County Health Department.

He served in World War II and the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sally Chester of Florida; two stepsons, David Degenhardt of Monmouth, Ore., Erik Degenhardt of Perryville; two brothers, Reinhold Degenhardt of Altenburg, Mo., Wilmer Degenhardt of St. Louis; a sister, Paula Holt of Altenburg; and six grandchildren.

Friends may call at Young and sons Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Matthew Marks officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Cemetery, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 133.
