Edgar Dwight Bledsoe, 79, of McClure, Ill., formerly of Olive Branch, Ill., died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006 from a fire in his home.
He was born Dec. 16, 1926, in Thebes, Ill., son of Edgar A. and Bertha Roberts Bledsoe.
Bledsoe was a veteran and retired Service Medical Assistant and SSG with the U.S. Army, serving in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was a former member of the VFW Post and Disabled Veterans in Texas.
Survivors include two sons, Edgar D. Bledsoe Jr. of Sesser, Ill., and James O. Bledsoe of Thebes; six daughters, Helen Louise Seigart of Carbondale, Ill., Donna Sue, Sharon, Ora Elizabeth, Anna Lorene and Wanda Louise Bledsoe; and two sisters, Ora Mae Phillips of Cape Girardeau and Anna Henderson of Thebes.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Johnny Warren officiating. Interment will be at Mount Zion Cemetery in rural Thebes with full military honors given by members of Missouri Delta Veterans.
