EDGAR B. RUSHING

Edgar B. Rushing, 71, of New Madrid, died Saturday, July 11, at the Jefferson Barracks Veterans Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born Jan. 24, 1921, in Paris, Tenn. to Mr. & Mrs. John Rushing.

On March 8, 1948, Rushing married Myrtle Mainord Rushing, who preceded him in death on March 23, 1986.

Survivors include three sons: Leon Rushing of East Prairie, Billy Rushing of Erin, Tenn., and Zendil Rushing of New Madrid.; three daughters, Jeannette Woods of East Prairie, Betty Hobby of Waynesboro, Tenn., and Susie Chadwick of Erin Tenn. Also surviving are 27 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Rushing was preceded in death by seven sisters.

Rushing lived most of his life in Dorena, where he farmed. He was of the Protestant faith.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 13, at 3:30 p.m. in the Shelby Funeral Chapel with Brother Mike Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the East Prairie Memorial Cemetery.
