E. Dewayne Francis, 79, of Jackson passed away Monday, April 11, 2016, at Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born May 28, 1936, near Grassy, Missouri, the son of Claude and Mary Shell Francis. He and Glenda Barks were united in marriage Sept. 4, 1954, in Amarillo, Texas. They have been married for 61 years.
E.D. was a graduate of Lutesville (Missouri) High School and took many ministerial classes. He was ordained into the ministry Dec. 14, 1968.
E.D. and Glenda were active in church. He was saved and baptized at First Baptist Church in Dalhart, Texas. He pastored several churches in the Black River, Cape Girardeau and the Saint Francois Baptist Associations. He served on two mission trips to the country of Haiti in the Dominican Republic. His last pastorate was at Southside Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, where he retired due to illness.
He was a very caring and giving husband, father, grandfather and great-Papa.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda, of the home; a son, Steve (Terri) Francis of Fredericktown, Missouri; a daughter, Deana (Jerry) Myracle of Jackson; four sisters, Glenda Francis of Marble Hill, Missouri, Vonda Hughes of Van Buren, Missouri, Almeda Cooper of Conyers, Georgia, and Beth Tuttle of Mankato, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Scott (Jennifer) Myracle of Cape Girardeau, Stephanie (David) Rhoades of St. Louis, Mandy (Dwayne) Maclin of Jackson, Trevor Francis of Marble Hill, Franny (Zak) Jensen of Jackson and Kara Beth (Marc) Richey of Cape Girardeau; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southside Baptist Church or a charity of choice.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Steve Francis and Bill Joyce officiating. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill.
