Ebert L. Bowen, 62, of Burfordville passed away Friday, Sept. 8, 2023, at his home.

He was born July 25, 1961, in Chicago to Thomas L. and Betty Jo Thornton Bowen. He and Lisa Proffer were married Aug. 15, 1983, in Burfordville. Three daughters were born to their union: Jessica, Leslie and Robyn.

He worked many years with building maintenance at DHL Supply.

Ebert was a member of Connection Point Church in Jackson. He coached in the girls softball league in Jackson, and liked hunting, camping, bowling and, above all, spending time with his grandchildren, and attending their choir and sporting events.

To cherish his memory, he leaves his wife of 40 years, Lisa Bowen of Burfordville; daughters, Jessica Allen (Stephen Johnson) and Leslie Bowen of Burfordville and Robyn (Jake) Scott of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren, Jacob McGuire, Isaiah, Aaliyah and Keyairrah Allen, and Ebert was anticipating the birth of another granddaughter, Lottie Scott.

Also surviving are three siblings, Ed (Marilyn) Bowen of Jackson, Thomas (Olivia) Bowen of Chaffee, Missouri, and Danny Bowen of Cape Girardeau; and close family friend, Ryan (Melissa) Medlin of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and Lisa's parents, Troy and Rosalie Proffer; and a niece, Jennifer Garland.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time Saturday, Sept. 16, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The Rev. Chris Vaught will conduct the funeral at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Proffer Cemetery in Crump.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Mid-America Transplant Foundation, American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association.
